Transformers Revenge of the Fallen

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen

From Director Michael Bay comes the Transformers sequel and this time its longer!

lol

Ok well the movie runs about 2:40 and in my opinion it doesnt seem like it. Theres no stupid Return of the King fade to black every so often 2+hrs in to trick you into thinking its over to only have it go on another hour.

Fallen takes place two years after the first one ended and in that time Prime and other Autobots have teamed up with the U.S Military secret force to go around the world and take out any left over Decepticons. At this point Sam has banged Fox several times and we all missed it. Im sure a sex tape will come out on the net some time soon….

Well Sam is off to college and finds a piece of the Allspark in his sweater and well once he touches it it puts all sorts of crazy info into his head and he goes crazy on and off.

At this time the Decepticons find Megatron, bring him back to life and thats when the shit happens.

The movie is action packed and brings more to the transformers story line. The fights also look better bc unlike part one the fights are done from a wider angle so you’re not so close up on all the damn moving parts the machines have not allowing you to tell what the hell was going on. Megan Fox looks smoking hot seeing that her tattoos are covered up and ya she’s hot.

There were some stupid things bc they went for a bit too many cheap laughs and the twins were black. lol if you see it you’ll see what i mean.

The cg looked great and the editing was just fine. The world shots looked cool as this movie takes you around the globe.

all in all i liked it and i say you should watch it. go stimulate the economy.

The Hangover

June 5th, 2009

The Hangover

Alright so this movie is about a man’s last stand. His one last night before marriage. So what does he do? He takes his two best friends and his soon to be brother in law to Vegas. They show up get super trashed and wake up the next day not knowing what the hell had happened the previous night. Seeing how the groom is missing they try to retrace their steps and run into hookers, mike tyson, a crazy chinese man and the Las Vegas Police Dept among other things.

You will recognize just about everyone in this movie and say “hey i know that person from that one movie but what is your name!” its full of “B” list actors. Its funny as hell though.

Heather Graham is in this movie too. What ever happened to her? She plays a stripper/escort and you see her breast feed. There is also full frontal male nudity in this movie but not like in Hostel 2…. that was a cockfest.

Id say go see this and have a good time. The movie moves smoothly and doesnt drag on forever like those movies brought to you from “the guys who brought you The 40 year old Virgin and Knocked Up” idk they make good funny movies but they always last what seems like forever.

Terminator: Salvation

May 21st, 2009

Ok so i went in and saw the matinee of this thing today. I originally worked on the trailer for this thing but never saw more than that. I thought the trailer was cool so i hoped the movie would be the same. McG directed this and you know him from Charlies Angel’s.

The action scene in this movie arnt as far fetched or ridiculous as they were in CA’s but they were cool.

So the movie takes place in 2018 and it starts off 4 days before the Resistance is going to launch a massive offensive on SKYNET in San Fransisco. What sucks about the story is that its all based on time travel so the story line changed in part 2 and 3 and now in part 4. In this new future John Connor is NOT the leader of the Resistance but instead a commander in one of its Armies. The Resistance is run by a submarine. So in this movie the machines are gathering humans to harvest them and create t-800 (Arnold’s) and the goal is to rescue Kyle Reese (played by the russian dude in Star Trek)…..Kyle Reese is John Connors dad if you dont remember. So if Reese dies Connor dies and never existed to begin with and then paradox blah blah blah….

ya and then we meet Marcus Wright, who is an andvanced t-800 type. Well the movie is pretty predictable but the action was good. There were plenty of action scenes and though none of them were epic they were pretty good. they were more face paced scenes cut in with some dialogue. Never just straight action.  You will recognize a lot of the lines as they were all from previous movies or just T2.

The movie runs about 1:48. I thought it could of been longer. The movie has very little story and it basically gets rid of it in the beginning.  There is nothing after the credits so dont stick around.

Arnold is in the movie…kinda of.  Its a CG Arnold. But ya if you like the series go see this. the cg isnt bad and its a good time. A little too short but hey i usually complain about movies being to long.

In other news!!!

Balls Out Pen 15 will be in the LA 48hr Film Fest again this year and I invite you guys to check it out. Also just finished CHINESE CHECKERS. I was the producer and editor on this one so check it out on the youtube at www.youtube.com/ballsoutpen15

Angels and Demons

May 15th, 2009

Ok so from the DaVince Code author Dan Brown comes Angels and Demons. Ok so as you all know i dont read books so this is another book to movie movie that i didnt read. From what im told AD came of before Davinci. IDK. Ok so the time line in the movie series is that Angels and Demons takes place after The Davinci Code. The plot to this one is that an old school foe of the church, The Illuminati, are back and they are pissed. They seek revenge for the killings the church committed in 16sumtn.

The movie starts off with the death of the pope and then out of nowhere the 4 main cardinals that are the favorites of for the papacy are kidnapped! So the Vatican police goes out to Harvard to pick up Robert Langdon. Thats when all the shit happens. The movie runs pretty fast and is 2hr 20min. The love interest isnt hot but the movie was entertaining. I like Tom Hanks and Ron Howard and like Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott they make a great combo. This sequel, if you want to call it that, isnt as action packed as Davinci but there are some gun fights. Nothing Michael Bay. You guys will notice a TON of cg. Mainly water and buildings and statues as the entire movie takes place in Vatican City and well they didnt shoot it there.

Like i said i didnt read the book but i knew what was gona happen the entire time. Its done on purpose i guess. The camera work hints at little things that later reveal why and where. So the movie was predictable.

FACT OR FICTION

A lot of the shit in this movie that was said about the church and world and Illuminati were true and some was exaggerated and some was made up but it was all put together nicely for this movie. This movie is not intended for Mexican moms or conservative white ppl but everyone else should have a good time. Like Kevin Smith’s Dogma this movie is meant to be a source of entertainment so calm down all you religious fanatics. I’m catholic and see this for what it is. A movie.

History channel has a few docs out on this this whole month bc of the movie. check em out.

As for the movie…..um ill say its a toss up. If your a fan check it out. If you are casual about this then wait for the dvd.

STAR TREK (2009)

May 9th, 2009

Ok ill start off by saying that I have never seen an episode of Star Trek in its entirety nor have I see any of the other movies. I do know that Treckies dont like being called Treckies. They instead use the term Trecker according to my old co worker Brian.

So JJ Abrams brings us this prequal of star fleet? Ya. Well I dont like Abrams. Lost sucks as did MI:III and Cloverfield. So Star Trek is his newest project and I made sure to see it as a Matinee bc im still unemployed. I hear this movie spent over 100Million on the special effects alone and I wouldnt doubt it seeing that whole thing was green screen and I mean the WHOLE thing. There were also no big name actors outside Eric Bana to take up payroll (Winona Ryder plays Spocks mom but thats it. She is in the movie for about 3 minutes.) I know this because the star fleet school is not star fleet it is in fact my school CSUN (Cal State University Northridge). They shot it here last spring break all hush hush. So the ground and landmarks are real but everything was different in the background and they even changed the color of the school library.

ok so this is a prequal where all of your favorite Star Trek characters meet up and by chance get their jobs. Its not too detailed with anyones past except for Kirk’s and Spock’s. So they all meet at CSUN and well from what I understand the story line in this movie fucks up the star trek story line. The fans in the theatre were’nt so happy bc everything they have known and loved is now going to be different for all the sequals. I guess JJ is trying to hit a new generation of Treckers. But the movie was typical JJ. All hype. It was ok. Not worth the $15 to see in IMAX thank God i only spent $9 w/ my studnet discount. I mean it wasnt bad it just wasnt great. I think that going into it with an unbiased opinion of star trek bc I have no history of it was a good idea. The movie had limited action. There were a few space explosion scenes but nothing like you would see in a star wars movie where there are ships flying and blasting. The hand to hand fight scenes were EXTREMELY small and limited. The camera work was nice and the CG was great but really nothing stood out.

I would say wait for the Blu Ray on this one.

next week is Angels and Demons followed by Terminator Salvation

TWILIGHT and WOLVERINE

May 2nd, 2009

Ok so lets talk about Twilight for a second. I know this movie was out back in Nov 08 but I refused to watch it in a theatre full of 13-year-old girls. My girlfriend’s sisters who are in their mid-late 30’s were all over this movie and the books too. It’s just one of those things. I mean I think Vampire chicks are hot (Kate Beckinsale) but just the thought of this movie made me think otherwise. I saw no chicks, I only saw half naked guys. It turns out I go to the gym with one of the Vampires from that movie. Lol. I never knew that. But ya it was a chick flick type of deal and I really did not want to see another book phenomenon movie.

After the girlfriend read the book she had to see the movie and what does she say? “Hey let’s rent it and watch it at your place. You have Blu Ray tv…” Ugh! I told her she should watch it at her house but nope we say it on my “Blu Ray TV” Lol.

Ok the review!

TWILIGHT

Alrighty so from what I heard throughout the entire time I saw this movie is that the book was better. That the movie placed seens out of place and blah blah blah. Its a fucken movie series! They wont give you everything up front. Get over it. They still need to release however many more books there are into movies. But anyways the movie is about a Jr in High School who lives with her mom in Arizona and bc the mom is married to a minor league baseball player and must travel all the time she decides to go live in Washington with her dad. Turns out its a tiny tiny town where Vampires and Werewolves have some sort of undisclosed agreement and well know one but the people involved in the deal know about it.  The vampires in the movie are Stoker type vamps that arn’t affected by what we have come to know as vampire deterrents i.e. crosses, garlic, the sun. Instead they live with people and claim to be vegetarians. They dont eat people only animals. Well one thing leads to another and our main character falls in love with the main vampire guy and the fun starts. I mean its hard to give a review on this movie’s plot without giving it away bc there isnt much to the story. But whatever let’s just say they become accepted not like a Romeo and Juliet thing but then some new vamps show up and well shit happens. The movie runs at 2hrs and I really did enjoy the movie. I can’t wait to see the sequel this Fall. I assume they will make every book into a movie and bust a Harry Potter and release one every year until they are done.

Ok seeing this movie on a Blu Ray was a BAAAAAD Idea. Like a Bad one. Ok I’m running a 1080P 42′ LG Scarlet at 120hz and 50k:1 contrast. That is WAAAY to much quality for this movie. Honestly I liked the movie. I’ll say that up front and OMG!!! Ashely Greene, a vampire and not the main chick, made it SOOOO much better…..mmmmmm Ashley Greene…… I’d like her suck me dry any day….. Ok so my complaints about the quality are that this was a lower budget movie and it showed on Blu Ray. All the vamps had make up on to make then pale looking and it showed where it started and where it ended. Same with the contacts they wore. You could see the rims of the contacts on my tv it was nuts. The CG wasn’t the best. It was Sci Fi ch quality CG but man did it show. So I would say defiantly watch this. Guy’s make sure you see this with a chick she will be all over you and ya i honestly thought it was good. See it on DVD though and not Blu Ray.

WOLVERINE

Ok so If you havn’t seen this in Theatres DONT!. DO  NOT! I’m sure 9/10 of you saw it when it leaked a few weeks ago anyways. That’s what I should of done. Ok so Wolverine:Origins is about the Origins of Wolverine. The movie starts off in Canada in 1845? when Logan was a kid and shows his childhood for a couple of minutes. Man oh man I hate kid actors they are baaad. But we then get the real cool intro credits that fast forward us to the 1970’s. The 5 minute credit scene shows Wolverine in the civil war, WWI, WWII, Vietnam…it was cool. Now the story was a combo of the many Weapon X stories. How he got the allimantium put in and weapon X stuff and Stryker and you even meet Gambit (looks like a tool). Again this movie is hard to review bc its all about revealing stuff. I cant say ___ __ and __ but __ without revealing stuff. I thought the action was cool, the story line was good but the CG SUCKED it was Matrix:Reloaded Status. The Twilight CG was better and that I am not exaggerating about that. It was as if they movie was still in post when it was leaked so they said, “Fuck it just release it so we can make our money” bc it looked like the CG was not finished for the theatrical release. The CG, no shit ,looked animated. Every time the claws came out and the bulk of the last 30 minutes looked crappy. Hey Ryan Reynolds is in the movie and he plays the same character he always does, the dude with his shirt off that wont shut up…..I mean he plays Dead Pool… Im sure the kids will like this one. So stay away not today disco lady! watch it on FX when it comes out. Im going to write a letter to Hugh Jackman requesting my $12.50 because as a producer on the movie he should of stopped this.

SPOILER

SPOILER

SPOILER

Wolverines brother is Sabertooth and he loses his memory not through the experiment but after Stryker shoots him in the head with an allimantium bullet.  See how several Weapon X things were combined? He also gets recruited to do secret U.S stuff and his wife never dies, she plays him, but dies later…..another story thing that was changed from the original. I dont know there was plenty of odd or wrong or changed things in the story but w/e I’m not a fan boy I’m a moviemaker. If it’s entertaining thats all that matters.

CRANK 2

April 20th, 2009

ok wow. Its been a while since Ive reviewed a movie and for good reason I think. Ok update. Since the last review Ive seen “A Haunting in Connecticut”, “The Fast and The Furious”, Ive been laid off and I just saw Crank 2. Hmmmm oh ya and all of my friends have been laid off too. 3 of us actually got laid off the same week. Except for Jorg-E….he got fired. He got caught stealing boxes on his day off. He was trying to build a club house.

The economy is dieing! Hurry people. For those of you that still have a job do this: PAY OF YOUR CREDIT CARDS…..buy American products with CASH.

I also produced a Senior Project at CSUN called “Chinese Checkers”. I’ll probably have that up on the site soon. The project is due at the end of the month. Im also prepping for the 48hr film project. No date announced yet but its always in June here in LA.

Man I need a new computer…..

I graduate in Dec and the state of California has announced that Summer school in the Cal State System will be canceled bc there is no money.

Ok well im starting to swing by the idea of never going to the movies again bc its WAAAAY to expensive. But there are just some movies I have to see on a 70ft screen. But I guess this is why I havnt seen too many movies. I use to go about 3-5 times a month and 5-8 in the summer but movies are too expensive now and they just suck. The gf made me see Haunting in Connecticut. It wasnt great and I had seen a documentary about it on History Channel. Then The Fast and The Furious was really just Fast and Furious 1.5 as it happens like 7 years after part 1 but before part 2. So imagine their characters are like 40 or 50 by the time Tokyo drift came around.

OK

CRANK 2

Crank 1 was cool. I really enjoyed it and Crank 2 is no different. The editing and cinematography is still the same. its all over the place in a good not nauseous way. The story is ridiculous and the plot twists are even more ridiculous but hey its a movie. Its fun and entertaining and it was worth my $9.75 student ticket. I had fun for 2 hours.

Ok so this one takes place right after part 1 ends. He falls out of the chopper, the chinese pick him up and rip out his heart. He wakes up 3 months later with a fake heart bc he is being kept alive so that his other organs may be harvested. The madness continues and havoc starts to come from it as Los Angeles becomes a war zone. From Hollywood to Santa Anita (or was it Hollywood park?) Chev tears it up about every 10 minutes. There are fights and shoot outs as well as sex and car chases every scene. There were just titties everywhere in this movie. Starts off in a whore house, goes to another whore house where he meets that ugly asian chick thats always on TMZ….Ling Bai??… Then he goes to a strip club, he then bangs Amy Smart in public again (looked like Jap porn bc the privates were pixelated…lol) then he ends up at the bad guys mansion where he has tons of hot chicks walking around topless…. so ya titties everywhere.

Bc he has a fake heart running on a battery, this time he needs to be electrically charged. No adrenaline this time. Blond Corey…Corey Haim makes a cameo in this movie as do several characters from part one. I dont know what else to say. I mean Id go see this again if i wasnt broke. I will buy this on blu ray in a few months.

ok now you movie goers in MAY will be having fun. The economy should get stimulated slightly. Every week in May has a major movie being released. The summer blockbusters are coming a month early and all in the same month.

May 1: Wolverine

May 8: Star Trek

May 15: Angels and Demons

May 21: Terminator Salvation (Thursday)

May 29: UP (not a blockbuster but it is PIXAR so it WILL make money and will be good)

There are a handful of “B” movies that will hit theatres in May like “night at the museum 2″ (may 22)…..”next day air”(may 8)….”ghost of girlfriends past” (May 1)

lol I actually worked on most of these movies before I got laid off.

ok so ya thats whats up for now and Ill be seeing that new Jack Sparrow/Batman movie tomorrow at a screener. Its about robbing banks in the depression era….i think…. ok ill find out tomorrow.

JCVD

January 28th, 2009

“On Land, on sea, and in the air they’re Damme quick, Damme cool, Damme Hot, Van Damme times two…double the Van Dammage.”
-Double Impact Trailer by Don Lafontaine

Now what happened to those days? What happened to the 80’s and 90’s the era of the action hero? Yes we’ve seen a the recent trend in 50 year old actors bring back Rambo,Die Hard,Terminator and the problem with those movies is that these guys are no longer in their primes and they arn’t Sean Connory so its goofy looking and totally unrealistic beyond its own means. Now we have super heroes and fantasy heroes running around and though i find those movies entertaining we need the next Jackie Chan. We need the next Segal,Stallone,Swarzena..schwazena..Governator…to blow things up, shoot first ask questions later, to have those ridiculous one liners that will live forever and to have a man put in an extraordinary situation giving him no choice but to become extraordinary himself. What happened to the average guy who just so happens to know kung fu and is a body builder who is a weapons expert and now works a desk job at a used car lot in middle America who’s family gets kidnapped by international spies because of his past who then forces him to do something to get them back? Well you want to know what happened to them? Watch JCVD. It turns out they are living in Belgium and are holding up Post Offices because they need money to fight a custody battle.

JCVD premiered in US theatres in November 2008 (June 08 in France) but was in extremely limited release only playing in two theaters in the Los Angeles area. I got lucky and saw it as a screener DVD with a industry friend. This film should have been nominated for Best Foreign Film at this year’s Oscars. JCVD is about a 47 year old Jean Claude Van Damme (JCVD) who is fighting a custody battle, has little work, and ends up walking in on a robbery while in Belgium. Through a series of unfortunate events the police think its JCVD robbing the place and well he is forced by the robbers to play along. About 85 percent of the movie is in French so its subtitled and it runs for an hour and a half. Think “Being John Malkovich” only no wormhole and with some action and kung fu. The movie has a cool look to it and the camera work is fun. Only thing not fun was the random jump cuts in some scenes. Other than that no complaints.

It was funny and I had a great time watching JCVD tell his somewhat life story while playing himself in this movie. In real life JCVD has starred in at least 1 movie every year since 1984 but they have all been foreign or straight to DVD since like 1999. The movie plays out like “Memento” in chunks and backwards. The Muscles from Brussels is followed through out the day just going from one bad experience to another. Even with all the praise, respect, and admiration he receives from everyone he encounters he still can’t land a role because they go to Steven Segal after he agrees to cut off his signature ponytail. Then what he does get sucks because his agent doesn’t even bother to read the scripts. Its rather funny to see him make reference to his old movies while in this robbery/hostage situation. Just telling the robbers what bad guys in his films do while he kicks cigarettes out of peoples mouths was funny. At the same time it’s sad to see him as a person because outside this robbery the movie truly is his life. He blames his current situation on living his boyhood dream of becoming a star. If he was never famous he believes he would have found love only once and it never would have been a drug.

So be sure to catch this JCVD flick. He is currently working on Universal Soldier III. This is out on DVD via NetFlix and should be hitting American shelves this February.

If you guys are into foreign cinema check out the Vengeance movies by Korean director/writer Chan-wook Park. Mr. Vengeance, Old Boy, and Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. Mind you they are all very great but graphic movies.

Now Im sorry. Was it that i did not attend a movie from Sept-Nov (except Rock N Rola) or did nothing at all come out this year? Or is it that only movies released between Thanksgiving and Chritsmas are only considered….thats starting to be the trend. I HAVE NOT SEEN ANY OF THESE MOVIES!!!!  Only movies on here that I have scene were Tropic Thunder and Dark Knight. All the others I’ve heard of but never was interested enough to see them…I do want to see Slum Dog Millionaire though. I mean Gran Torino and Dark Knight were suppose to be in the Best Film category but were snubbed.

All the people on everywhere were hating on Dark Knight saying it doesn’t deserve to be nominated for best Picture bc its a comic book movie. Thats stupid. Hands down it was great and though I have not seen any of the movies being nominated as of today 1/23/09 i can garandamnte you it will be forever known by everyone and have made more money on its opening night than all these nominated movies combined. Go back and read my review on it. The camera work and directing were great. DK was Nominated for best Cinematography/Editing/Make up/Sound/Sound mixing/Visual effects. Academy people are stupid liberal yuppies.

I did the EPK (electronic Press kits) and trailers and dubs for MILK here at work and my older co workers told me the real life story about the events in that movie and after all that I wasnt too interested in seeing it in theatres. They also shot the movie at my school CSUN….i also saw some shots of the new star trek movie there last spring break.

Robert Downey Jr gets a nom for his role in Tropic Thunder for playing a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude and he is up against the over hyped Ledger. AGAIN i think Ledger was good in DK but not great. Ok now again all you haters…step back, stop yelling at the computer and ask yourself this “IF Ledger was still alive today would i think he did such a great job playing the joker?” Again i think he was good but not great. He was one component that was placed properly to make that movie great.

Next paycheck I have to go see me some of these ‘Best Picture” movies. I was tempted to see Slum Dog at Arch Light bc it was the only place holding it until it won everything at the Goldne Globes. I just didnt want to blow 16 bux to see it. my co worker Sara said it was good. Who knows…

So instead of giving a blind perdictionn as to who will win what this year, ill say nothing only bc i havnt seen these uninteresting looking movies.

Any of you guys seen em? If so what do you think?

thanks

MALL COP & BRIDE WARS

January 19th, 2009

OK let me start off by telling all you party people about $1 movies! Yes $1 Movies! Where? At Universal City Walk. How? Well tickets are normally $12. Matinees (before 4pm) are $10 and IF and only IF you see an AM movie. (before noon) you get in for $6 (Unless its 3D then its $8). Now whats all this $1 talk about? Well if you decide to park there you can use your parking stub for $5 off and then you have a $1 movie. Ya i know you have to pay $10-12 for parking but thats why you go in a group and split the parking/gas…. carpool people. But ya even if you just get dropped off or tag along $6 is nutn for a movie and its good every day off the week.

Alrighty then

MALL COP
As you can probably guess I went and saw this at Universal For $1 and had i known it was kid oriented it would of taken my nephew and niece bc it was good. It was a good time.

In the beginning you had Eastwood/Van Damme/Seagal/Stallone/Schwarzenegger and now JAMES!!!

KEVIN JAMES
You all know him from King Of Queens and now he plays a hypoglycemic mall cop who is a single dad trying to protect Black Friday.

The movie is about a mall cop who fails to join the New Jersey State Police and ends up falling for the girl at the wig booth in the mall. Come black friday a group of criminals try to take over the mall and it just so happens that he is there to protect his mall with his flash light and a segway.

The movie is funny. I mean he is a big guy and he knows it and plays well to it and isnt over the top stupid like Chris Farley was. Its fun and clean comedy so its great for the kids and there’s a lot of wow factors for them as well seeing that the people taking over the mall are all Free Runners and extreme sports ppl who use conveniently placed raps and ledges to grind on launch off with their skateboards and bikes. He uses his wits and knowledge of the mall as well as accidental things to fight them off and well its a good time. I went with 5 21/22 year olds and we all laughed out loud.

I say go watch this for $6/1

BRIDE WARS
ok the girlfriend wanted to go see this and since i figured it be lame guess what? I only paid $6 to watch it. Yes i went back. Im out in this area all the time so i figured id see it here.

This movie is just true to how woman really are. I always get told to shut up and stop yelling and screaming at the tv when my teams arnt performing and to not take it so serious its only a game. Well these bitches were practically UFC fighters. Thats how they really are. You dont understand. Woman take wedding crap so serious. its crazy! Vera Wang this, Tiffany box that and a june Wedding ……ugh

ok well this movies stars the Bootylicious Kate Hudson (see her in You,Me and Dupree) and ever so hot Anne Hathaway (see her topless in Havoc..movie sucks though) who play life long best friends who end up getting engaged around the same time and when their venue accidentally gets booked on the same day the claws come out and women start acting like women.

The movie runs a lil less than 2hrs and really the movie wasn’t slow but it was rather boring. It only gets good in the 2nd half to last 1/3 when they start to sabotage each other. Its a chick flick obviously and really id say “Stay away not today disco lady”. Wait for the renatl unless you can get it for $1 at universal like I did.

Not for the guys, especially the guys with the girlfriends who are pushing for a wedding. The male actors in the movie were just like men in life, didnt care about the invitation color bc it doesnt really matter.

Remember Men marry woman hoping they wont change and woman marry men hoping to change them………

$1 or a rental ….
